The Kursk: History of the Lost Submarine and the global race to save it's crew
All that happened in August 2000, when the nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine "The Kursk" went missing during the Russian Northern Fleet's Summer-X war games in the Barents Sea.
This 5 part mini-series examines the Kursk Disaster, the first catastrophe for then newly elected Putin who had only just assumed office and was caught on vacation when the disaster struck.
The series examines the build-up to the disaster, the bungled Soviet response and the international effort to save the trapped crew before time runs out.
