Set in Paris, 1899. President Félix Faure has just died in the arms of his mistress, between Jules Guérin’s nationalist, anti-Semitic leagues and the threat of anarchy, the French Republic faces an existential threat, so much so that Police Chief Louis Lépine is urgently called out of retirement to restore order in Paris when the tragic discovery of a young woman’s torso in a suitcase floating down the Seine leads to a case with many twists and turns and threatens to expose a web of interconnected threads leading all the way to the most influential tier of French society…
